When 17-year-old aspiring rapper, Malik, is mistaken for a rival gang member, a day of creative expression turns deadly. Tracked by a vengeful gang due to his appearance, Malik’s life is tragically cut short in a fatal encounter, unravelling a heartbreaking story of mistaken identity, violence, and shattered dreams.

** Synopsis of "Mistaken Identity" (Crime Drama) **

Mistaken Identity is a gripping crime drama that follows the tragic story of Malik, a 17-year-old aspiring rapper from an urban neighbourhood. Malik, full of dreams and talent, is filming a music video with his friends on the streets of his hometown. He wears a distinctive outfit, chosen to match the gritty aesthetic of his music

Unbeknownst to him, his appearance catches the attention of a local gang, who mistake Malik for a rival member. In a split-second misjudgement, they believe he is signalling territory with his clothing and demeanour. The gang, already on edge from recent tensions and retaliations, decides to take action.

As the day progresses, Malik and his friends continue to film, oblivious to the danger that’s closing in. The gang begins to hone in on them, convinced that Malik is part of their enemy’s crew. Soon, the peaceful shoot turns into a nightmare as Malik is ambushed, chased through the streets, and eventually cornered. In a horrifying moment of violence, Malik is fatally shot by the gang members.

Shots of people coming to school in the park

Quick shots of kids coming to school in the playground

Cuts to boy walking to school with headphones in (audio changes so that it is like we are hearing what he hears)

Scene one:

boy1 walking to school (close up) [first pov shot then camera flips to close up]

Boy2 running after friend (wide shot across the road)

Back to close up of boy1

Boy2 says "yo"

Boy1 no response

Boy 2 "Yo Keith" with the second yo being louder

boy1 is startled and takes out his earphones looking down to the right as he notices it is his friend

[camera moves down to boy2 in frame then zooms out to a mid shot so that both boys can be seen in frame]

Boy1 "ayy what you sayin bro"

the two boys dap each other up

They talk about meeting up after school to do music vid (mid shot)

Boy2 "im good im good" "been working on some new lyrics init"

Boy1 "swear down i been working on that beat you asked me to make as well"

Boy2 "calm icl i think this ones gonna be the best one still"

Boy1 starts to say something while checking his phone but realises the time

Boy1 "yooo its 47 were gonna be late man!!!"

They run off turning the corner out of sight (flash forward to the boy running towards the camera away from the gang members (if there's time)) (wide shot from across the road as the title is displayed intergrated into the wall it then cuts to black so that the title is more visble) [try to shoot the wide shot so that the wall is in the middle third of the frame so when the title is more visable it is able to be in the centre of the screen]

Scene two:

Boy2 comes into classroom

could add a window transition here as if the camera is going through the window or just shoot from outside to begin with

Teacher1 says "late again i see.... sit down and turn to page 13"

Boy2 mumbles "sorry" and sits down

The teacher continues to speak but the boy is looking out the window. The teachers voice fades out [maybe add some vignette to represent him being dreamy] cuts 3 more times to different classrooms where the boy is still looking out the classroom in each lesson [camera shots are taken from outside the window looking in try to keep the boy in the centre third of the shot]

In the final classroom shot the teachers voice fades back in as the bell starts ringing

Teacher1 "and remember make sure you've done the homework it's due next lesson"

Scene three:

Shot of boys walking out of the school discussing plans to meet up later that day to shoot music vid inaudible due to the loud kids around

Boy2 shouts "make sure you bring the speaker this time" as they part ways

Scene four:

black screen saying later on that day

Scene five:

Boys meet up at the place where they want to shoot the film[possibly park area such as the bit near the gate, climbing frames or basketball court], they start playing the music with the camera set up in frame on a tripod [in the distance a person videos them on their instagram live]

Gang members see the live and think he is an opp so they roll up on the boys

cuts to them running past the corner of the alley way we see the weapon being pulled out [possible slow mo bit]

pov of him looking at both walls then at the back of the alley way and the front (both sides have members approaching (group people so it looks like there's more of them))

Long shot of alley way vfx birds fly up in the sky and gang members run out

cuts to black

Ending music starts: ynw Melly murder on my mind/Pozer I'm Tryna (choose which one at editing stage)

The film ends with shot of the empty classrooms where the boy was but the seat empty

Role credits over footage of classrooms and keep rolling when it goes back to black after classroom footage
